Sam Sills Storms to Victory at the RYA Volvo Youth National Championships!

Tushingham rider Sam Sills has taken a stunning victory against all the odds at the 2010 Volvo Youth National Championships held in Portland Harbour.  Racing competitively in the RS-X one-design Olympic fleet for the first time in the UK after stepping up from the Techno 293 class, Sam clinched the title in the very last race of the regatta by taking the race win. Close rival Connor Bainbridge, with whom Sam had been exchanging the event lead throughout the 15-race series, could only manage 6th, giving Sam a dramatic and hard-earned victory!

Not only did Sam take a superb win against the country's elite young sailors in a wide range of winds, he achieved this while nursing a sore back, (for which he is taking a good rest now on medical advice)

As a result of the win, Sam will represent Great Britain at the ISAF Games in Istanbul this July, teaming up with friend and winner of the girls fleet Izzy Hamilton.
