Team Riders in South Africa
Tushingham Team Riders George & Muzza have been ripping it up on their new ROCKS and Quad boards in the popular winter destination of Cape Town since early January.
We're very jealous of the fantastic weather and conditions they've been having as we've followed their exploits both on and off the water through their blog sites - see below.

They'll be back in the UK for demo's, clinics and competitions in a few weeks. By the looks of it the training in South Africa has stepped up their sailing to the next level and they'll both be worth keeping an eye on at the BWA wave competitions in the coming months. Also sounds like a new video imminent reading George's blog... so stay tuned!
Some bad news from top slalom racer Alan Jackson, with a twisted foot sustained on a trip to Fuerteventura. We're not sure whether it's windsurfing or alcohol related, nevertheless, he's aiming to be back on the water soon to prepare for the new slalom season, commencing on Easter Weekend at Tenby. |

Tenby Slalom Easter Weekend – Sat 3rd – Mon 5th April
Tushingham Sails and Starboard UK have teamed up with Rat Rigs Watersports to host the very first event of the new British Slalom Association series on the beautiful south Wales coast.
Tenby is a little further to travel than your local sailing spot but well worth the extra miles. It’s a beautiful location that delivers superb slalom conditions in a wide range of wind directions and offers shelter from the ocean swells. The Surflink building, which hosts the lifesaving and rowing clubs, provides excellent shower facilities and there’s an abundance of good campsites and hotels nearby.
Held over the Easter Holiday Weekend, racing will take place from Saturday lunchtime to Monday lunchtime, allowing competitors and families plenty of time for travelling and to avoid Bank Holiday traffic.
A significant change to the slalom series for 2010 will be the racing format for newcomers to racing and those a little nervous about giving it a go. The BSA series will see a “Master Blaster” class, high on enjoyment without the pressure of battling experienced racers. It’s simple round-the-buoy-and-back racing, following the massive success of this format at the National Windsurf festival. In between these races, competitors can watch top-level national racing while team riders will offer coaching and demo gear.
Every new racer to enter the Master Blaster fleet will go into a draw for a new Tushingham sail, which will be drawn at the prize-giving.

Tushingham’s Paul Simmons comments: “The location is absolutely stunning and a few years ago hosted some of the most exciting slalom racing seen in recent years on UK shores. As well as catering for the elite racers, one of the main aims of the BSA is to provide accessible and fun racing for everyone. Whether you’re a serious racer or just want a good weekend of windsurfing, there’s no better location to give it a go – so come along and make a holiday weekend of it!”

Three Podium Finishes for Sills' in Med Cup Success
Young Tushingham hotshot racer Sam Sills has begun his international racing career in the RS-X one-design fleet at the Med Cup in Marseille.
Sam reports:
"We did 5 races in Marseille, extremely tough conditions! The first day the mistral wind blew with steep chop and 20 knots. The next day the wind was coming straight over the mountain causing 60-degree shifts and huge gusts.
In the end I finished third, with my sisters Saskia and Imi placing first and second in their fleet."
The full list of results can be found here
This season Sam will be racing in the new BSA slalom series in between his busy RS-X race schedule and squeezing in as many wave sessions as possible with the new Rocks in his home waters off North Cornwall.

2010 X-15 Wins National Slalom Championship on Competition Debut!
Talented New Zealand racer Gareth Wood only took delivery of his new 2010 quiver of X-15 sails a matter of days before the national championships, which were held between 4th & 7th February. Nevertheless, he stormed to victory in a competitive fleet, winning every round with 26 first places out of 26 ahead of James Dinnis (last years winner and current US open champion).
Gareth’s victory wasn’t the only success for Tushingham. In the over-50’s British ex-pat Tim Wood piloted his X-15s to victory, taking a commendable 6th place overall. There was a further podium finish for Tushingham in the women’s division, where Sue Bradley took second place riding Lightning and Storm sails.
Watercooled Sports are the Tushingham retailer for New Zealand and now have the 2010 collection available in store.
