Team Tushingham Clean Up in Coll Challenge!

Tiree CollNot exactly windsurfing news but certainly worthy of note, George Shillito took a superb victory in the Cal Mac Coll Challenge, proving he can make headlines in other ways than stripping naked to windsurf! The event, which partners the Tiree Wave Classic, is a multi-discipline extreme race and took place on both Tiree and neighbouring island Coll.

Unfavourable wind conditions meant that a stand up paddling leg replaced the windsurfing crossing between the islands and the competitors were ferried over. This did not deter Polkerris Beach's young hero though. Strong performances in SUP and across the other disciplines (a three mile run and a 12 mile bike ride) gave George a hard-earned win ahead of new team mate Muzza, also restoring personal dignity after taking to the water au naturel earlier in the week.

Just a narrow gap behind experienced windsurfing pro Jamie Hawkins was the only lady taking part, Tushingham's Marie Buchanan, taking a credible sixth place.
